Julio Almeida ist ein international anerkannter Künstler. Die in Washington D.C.

erscheinende Zeitschrift Américas bezeichnete den Musiker aus Ecuador, der seit vielen

Jahren in Köln lebt, als „a rising star of the classical guitar world“. Tatsächlich wurden seine

Konzerte weltweit vom Publikum wie von den Kritikern mit großem Beifall aufgenommen.

Seine Konzertreisen haben ihn sowohl als Solist als auch in kammermusikalischer Besetzung

in verschiedene Länder Europas, Südamerikas, in die USA sowie nach Russland, Asien,

Australien und in den Nahen Osten geführt, wo er in so renommierten Sälen wie der Carnegie

Hall in New York, dem Kennedy Center in Washington, dem Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires,

dem Beethoven-Saal in Bonn, dem Teatro di Marcello in Rom, der Royal Festival Hall in

London, der Chiesa della Pontificia di Sant´Anna im Vatikan, dem Hôtel National des

Invalides in Paris, dem Sydney Opera House, das Min-On Museum in Tokio, dem Grand

National Theater in Peking, dem Königsschloss in Warschau, dem Theater Duna Palotain

Von Almeida sind bisher sieben CDs und zwei DVDs  erschienen. Sein Können stellte er außerdem in Radio- und Fernsehaufnahmen des WDR, des SFB, von Radio Nederland in Den Haag, von Radio Bartók in Budapest, des HEYA TV in Beirut, des Radio Nacional in Buenos Aires, des Radio Classical FM in Sophia, von Radio Secolo XIX in Genua, von Radio Visión in Quito unter Beweis.

Unter seinen Kompositionen finden sich zahlreiche Werke für Gitarre und Geige, Gitarre und Gesang, Gitarre und Flöte, und für Solo-Gitarre. Seine Kompositionen sind  im Festivals in der Schweiz, in Ecuador, in Israel, in Frankreich, und in Deutschland, aufgeführt worden. Er ist mehrfacher Preisträger nationaler und internationaler Wettbewerbe und Auszeichnungen:

-2017 Auszeichnung fürs verbreiten der ecuadorianische Musik auf der ganze Welt von der Botschaft von Ecuador in Ungarn.

 

-2013 Auszeichnung von der Fundacja Judaica in Krakau Polen, für sein internationales musikalisches Wirken

 

-2012 Auszeichnung fürs verbreiten der ecuadorianischen Kultur auf der ganze Welt vom

Konsulat von Ecuador in Mailand

 

- 2011 Der Schlüssel der Stadt von der Gemeinde der Stadt Ashkelon in Israel, für die

 Kompositionen die Almeida der Stadt gewidmet hat.

 

- 2009 Der CICLA-Preis an der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem, für sein internationales

musikalisches Wirken.

 

-2007 Die Auszeichnung „J.J. de Olmedo“für die Würdigung der Kulturellen und

künstlerischen Werte Ecuadors verliehen von der Regierung der Provinz Guayas-Ecuador.

 

-2005 Der Orden für kulturelle Verdienste „Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte“ verliehen vom

ecuadorianischen Parlament.

 

-1999 Diploma al mérito im Kammermusikwettbewerb TIM-Torneo Internazionale di música

 in Weimar.

 

-1998 Zweiter Preis im Wuppertaler Wettbewerb für Kammermusik „Gitarre plus eins“ mit

dem Flötisten Thomas Brögger als Duo Encuentro.

 

-1996 Dritte Platz im Wettbewerb um das „Kulturförderstipendium der westfälischen

Wirtschaft“ in Münster.

 

1982 Erster Preis des Nationalen Wettbewerbs für klassische Gitarre in Quito / Ecuador.

 

Almeida studierte bei Reinbert Evers an der Musikhochschule in Münster, wo er seine

Reifeprüfung mit Auszeichnung ablegte. Es folgte das Konzertexamen im Rahmen des

International Chain Programms an den Musikhochschulen in Enschede (Holland), Gent

(Belgien) und Essen. Während seines Studiums besuchte zahlreiche Tutorien und

Meisterkurse u.a. von Abel Carlevaro, Aniello Desiderio, Olivier Chassin, Hubert Käppel,

Dieter Kreidler, Wolfgang Lendle, Roberto Aussel, Antonio Ruíz Pipó, und Louis Ignatius

Gall.

Zur Zeit lehrt Almeida an der Städtischen Musikschule Meerbusch.

Almeida  studied classical guitar with Reinbert Evers at the College of Music in Münster,

 completing his studies with the highest distinction. This was followed by the Soloist-Degree

"Konzertexamen" within the programme of the International Chain Study in

Enschede/Netherlands, Gent/Belgium, and Essen/Germany.

His frequent performances as a soloist and in chamber music collaborations have taken place

in prestigious concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in

 Washington D.C., the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, the Beethoven Hall of Bonn, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Teatro di Marcello in Rome, the Chiesa della Pontificia di

His compositions include numerous works for guitar and violin, guitar and voice, guitar and flute, as well as for solo guitar. His compositions have been performed at festivals in Switzerland, Ecuador, Israel, France, and Germany.

Almeida has won prizes in several national and international competitions, including:

1982             First prize in the National Competition for Classical Guitar in Quito/Ecuador

1996             Third prize in the Competition for the Scholarship for Cultural Promotion, given by

the             Association of Business and Industry, Münster/Germany

1998             Second prize in the Chamber Music Competition of Wuppertal with the Duo

Encuentro for             flute and guitar, with flutist Thomas Brögger

1999 Diploma al Mérito in the Torneo Internationale di Música in Weimar-Germany.

In 2005 the Ecuadorian Congress decorated him with the Order “Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte” for

his cultural merits.

 In 2007 he was honoured with the “J.J. Olmedo Award” by the government of the State of

Guayas for having rendered outstanding artistic services to his country.

- 2009 The CICLA-Prize was given by the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, for his international musical activities.

-2011 „The Key of the City“ was presented to Almeida for compositions he dedicated to the city of Ashkelon in Israel.

-2012 The Award of distintion was given by the Ecuadorian Consulate in Milano, for his world-wide promotion of ecuadorian culture.

-2013 The Award of distintion was given by Fundacja Judaica in Krakow-Poland.

-2017 The Awuard of distintion was given by the Embassy of Ecuador in Budapest.

Almeida currently is Instructor of Classical Guitar at the Music Academy of Meerbusch, and at the University in Mettmann in Germany.
